Whether you’re an avid hobbyist or part of the manufacturing industry, a hot glue gun is an essential part of your equipment. While you may think of the tool as a means to adhering two materials, a hot glue gun does have other applications. Here are some tips and tricks for getting the most from your hot melt glue applications.
Double the Bond
If you’re working with wood and you want to glue two pieces together with a strong and even bond that doesn’t take hours to adhere, spread the wood glue evenly over the wooden parts, leaving a small area in the center bare. Apply hot melt to this area and join. Now you have an immediate bond from the hot glue, allowing the wood glue time to cure.
Need a mold in a hurry? Simply pour a liberal amount of hot melt adhesive onto a clean surface, press the object to be cast into it. Peel off the object when the glue is dry and you have an instant mold.
Hot melt glue is perfect for quick and easy waterproofing for things like strip lights, electronics, and project boxes. Make sure you make a complete seal. As soon as the glue hardens your object will be waterproof.
